With
Cobra, nothing is ever taken for granted. This a team that knows
exactly what it wants. For every match there is a game plan that
meets head-on the challenge of Cobra opponents.
So when Cobra face off against SMS Old Boys on Saturday at the
SMSS field in Cheras, losing seems an unlikely prospect. For Cobra,
the match is its last on the MRU Super League calendar and victory
will hand it the title.
Last weekend at the KGV Field in Seremban, Cobra overcame their
toughest hurdle in defeating defending champions NS Wanderers 21-12.
Both teams had been tied with eight points each until that encounter
with Wanderers on top of the standings on better goal difference.
Cobra
team manager Kapt. Nazerudin Borhan said that SMS Old Boys can
expect no favours from his
side. “It may be our last
match but we will not be letting down our guard.
“We beat Old Boys 63-0 in the first round. Despite this,
we will play for a win. The shoreline does not really matter. The
boys are highly motivated after the match against NS Wanderers
and you can expect them to troop into the field expecting to perform
at nothing but their best,” Nazerudin explained.
Cobra will field their best and again, the team will meet the
game plan for an opponent such as SMS old Boys. For SMS Old Boys
- noting the highly motivated state of the Cobra side - the match
could prove a nightmare. This is moreso considering the thumping
they received the last time round.
If Cobra triumph in this last match of the season, it will be
the third time that they have been crowned champions in the MRU
Super League. Cobra were champions in 2000, 2001 and 2003. NS Wanderers
won in 2002 and 2004.
In other matches to be played, Staroba take on NS Wanderers at
the Star grounds in Ipoh while Blackhawks face off against JLJ
DiRaja at Jalan Bellamy.
The National Inter-Club tourney had ended with
Bandaraya Dragons having convincingly beaten Pulapol 56-5 in the
final last weekend. |
