| THE
Malaysian Rugby Union (MRU) Super League ended in an anti-climax
manner when Cobra were crowned champions without raising a sweat.
This came about when Cobra walked-over SMS Old Boys who could
not field a team for their deciding match at UPM ground on Saturday.
SMS Old Boys could not get enough players to form a team.
With
this win, Cobra ended the six-team elite competition among the
country’s top clubs
with 27 points from 10 matches.
Last season champions NS Wanderers emerged runners-up by beating
arch rivals Staroba Orange 38-29 also at UPM ground.
Wanderers, who were expected to retain their title, finished with
26 points.
Former giants RMAF Blackhawks managed to retain their place in
this league next season after defeating JLJ DiRaja 23-15 in another
match.
Old Boys and JLJ DiRaja were relegated to the national clubs championship
next season. |
