“Cobra is a hotbed
for rugby in Malaysia. They have gone one step further by
helping young players with financial
assistance. We are proud to be associated with this noble
programme.
“Today, we would like to assure Cobra
that Prudential Assurance and Prudential Unit Trust will
continue to support
the charity golf event every year,'' said Ng.
Prudential Unit Trusts chief executive officer Mark Toh said
they were aware that more than 70% of Cobra players were university
students from poor families.
Cobra president Datuk Krishnan Tan said about 10 players had
benefited from the FAP.
“All the recipients had represented Malaysia in various
international rugby tournaments. We don’t want these
players to give up the game due to financial constraints. This
year, we intend to place another five students in the programme,''
said Tan.
On the charity golf championship, Tan said 35 flights had
been snapped up.
